I can't.

I just can't bring myself to be like everyone else around me.

It's frustrating; it's confusing.

I wish I can get a little help in finding my way.

Plainly, undoubtedly.

As Greg aptly puts it, "It's like walking - put your left foot out, then your right foot, then your left foot, then your right..... When things don't work, try it again later. When you fail, just try again and again."

We were talking about perseverance, failures, and motivation.

When I was in foundation year (in arts college), I should have learnt. I should have understood what Mary, my lecturer, was trying to instill in us - the innocence and playfulness of a child.

I was sharing with Kayla just recently how weird it is that I actually have to learn to be what I used to be. When we got to know each other donkey years ago (we were 14), I was this carefree, contented, free-spirited and optimistic girl.

However, like a typical Singaporean sanguine-teen, I lost it along the way while growing up. It is strange how I can't simply revert back to my former character; that I have to learn how to become that way again.

There are some people I admire. I don't envy (at least, I don't want to envy) them, but I admire them. The people who can be pure as a dove, and shrewd like a snake. By the way, God says that we have to be pure like doves, yet shrewd like snakes.

Matthew 10:16 - I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

So, you want to stop whining?

“Alright, the secret of happiness is simple: find out what you truly love to do and then direct all of your energy towards doing it.

You will wake up every morning with a limitless reservoir of energy and enthusiasm. All your thoughts will be focused on your definite objective.

You won’t have time to waste time. Valuable mental power will, therefore, not be wasted on trifling thoughts. You will automatically erase the worry habit and become far more effective and productive.

Interestingly, you will also have a deep sense of inner harmony, as if you are somehow being guided to realize your mission. It is a wonderful feeling.”

- Robin Sharma, "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari"
